Forward Deployed Engineer

At WordPress VIP (part of Automattic), we power the most influential properties on the web — from the White House to Meta and Salesforce. Looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our mission.

Role Overview: Serve as an embedded technical partner to complex WordPress VIP customers in Media, Enterprise, and Government. Work at the intersection of engineering, consulting, and customer success.

What You'll Do:
• Engage directly with large VIP customers to ensure successful adoption and scaling of WordPress VIP
• Solve complex architectural and technical problems
• Conduct technical discovery and design sessions, producing architecture recommendations
• Identify and shape professional services opportunities
• Participate in presales and renewal discussions

Required:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in PHP and/or JavaScript
• Strong familiarity with WordPress at scale: REST APIs, caching/CDNs, performance optimization
• Experience in technical consulting or professional services
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management

Ideal:
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development, observability tools, CI/CD, GitHub Actions

Salary: $180,000–$230,000 USD. Fully remote with open vacation policy.
