Senior Backend Engineer

At Sporty Group, you'll develop microservices in a distributed deployment environment with an emphasis on containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes. You'll work on core logic of complex systems accessed millions of times a day — not simple CRUD applications.

Stack (built from scratch ~3 years ago):
• Language: Java 17
• Frameworks: Spring Boot (Tomcat, Netty), Spring Data, Spring Cloud
• Architecture: Microservices, REST API, Message Queues
• Databases: MySQL, MyBatis, ShardingSphere, MongoDB
• Caching: Redis (AWS ElastiCache), Elasticsearch
• Message Queue: RocketMQ
• Cloud: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
• Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, AWS CloudWatch

Responsibilities:
• Develop highly-scalable mobile internet backends for millions of users.
• Work with Product Owners and developers to determine new features and user stories.
• Participate in code reviews with peers and managers.
• Respond to production support calls for quick diagnosis and repair.
• Participate in team ceremonies: planning, grooming, demos, retrospectives.
• Mentor less experienced team members.

Requirements:
• 6+ years in a relevant backend role.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data and iBATIS preferred.
• Experience designing highly transactional and scalable web backends.
• Advanced proficiency in OOD and microservices architecture.
• Expert knowledge of RabbitMQ, MySQL, Redis.
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
