Job description

Canonical is hiring an Alliances Field Engineer to help its biggest partners including companies like Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, Accenture, and Tata understand and embrace Canonical's open source platform for themselves and their customers. Canonical is the company behind Ubuntu, a leading open source software and operating system platform with 1000 or more colleagues in 70 or more countries. The worldwide field engineering team applies expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling the enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and AI and MLOps technologies. This role supports OEM hardware manufacturers, GSI global system integrators, ISV independent software vendors, Channel partners, and Public Cloud alliance partners. Responsibilities include understanding Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and services in real-world environments; architecting cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark either on-premises or in public cloud including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud; architecting and integrating popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX; helping partners offer and architect joint solutions utilizing Canonical's technologies on top of public clouds and in the data center; designing and publishing joint Reference Architectures; and preparing and running onboarding sessions and workshops with various partners' teams to promote Canonical products and solutions. Requirements include extensive experience with Linux preferably Ubuntu, Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation, experience designing and implementing solutions on top of public or private clouds, Python and bash understanding, and the ability to travel globally up to 30 percent of the time.
