Job description

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems for global enterprise and technology markets. Ubuntu is widely used in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation and IoT. The company has 1200+ colleagues in more than 80 countries.

We are hiring a Golang Engineering Manager for the Commercial Systems unit, which consists of six engineering teams that closely collaborate with other engineering and business teams at Canonical.

The Billing team designs, develops, and operates a Golang service providing standardized and scalable capability to turn metrics into billable amounts, enable customers to see their current spend with Canonical at any time, and ensure accurate, reliable, and timely billing. The service integrates with other engineering, business, and payment systems.

The Livepatch team designs and develops a service for delivery of Linux kernel patches to shrink the exploit window for critical and high severity Linux kernel vulnerabilities, patching the Linux kernel while the system runs.

Required: Exceptional academic track record. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject. Track record of going above-and-beyond expectations. Experience with software development in Golang, Python, Java, or similar. Professional written and spoken English. Result-oriented with drive to meet commitments. Ability to travel internationally twice a year.

Benefits: Personal learning budget USD 2,000/year, annual compensation review, performance-driven bonus, distributed work environment with twice-yearly in-person sprints.
